drinking my 10th dream machine of the month, while procrastinating to finish this last chapter, and reading more shel silverstein works

Listen to the mustn’ts, child.

Listen to the don’ts.

Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts.

Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me…

Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.

i’ll always remember the plethora of children’s books that kept me company during my lonely years in elementary school (i didn’t have any friends :-( ). one of my absolute favorites was shel silverstein.

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

upon reading it…after however many years that have passed, it continues to remind me just how great of an author he is

1. i haven’t been updating

2. because i’m drenched in stress

3. which causes me to sleep every chance i get

4. which makes me absolutely boring

5. waking up at 4am blows

6. even though i am tired/stressed/overworked beyond belief

7. i LOVE what i’m doing (on most days)

8. fatigue is setting in now…

9. so, i must discontinue blogging…in a list format

10. i love my boyfriend!

looking at houston from the 45th floor is simply amazing. the black sky, the lights…it was great. the entire time that i was sitting there looking out of the window, i was thinking about the iron and wine cover of ’such great heights.’

things are looking up =)
