i am FINALLY done with this semester. it was torturous. whew. this past month has been nothing but wonderful, despite all of the stress. =) i haven’t been this happy in soooooooooo long.
lots of eating out this week. i’m accumulating a new and improved list for 2009. i can now check off the oceanaire! it was fucking INCREDIBLE. holy shit, the oysters were so freaking good. i’m a die hard oyster fan. we also had 2 bottles of this great reisling and two different types of lobster. dessert consisted of this cake with meringue drenched with alcohol. it was pretty potent haha. please excuse the cursing….but there’s simply no other way to describe how good the seafood was. =P
we saw anjelah johnson last night at improv comedy. eh. she wasn’t too funny. the only thing that was worthwhile would probably be the nail salon bit but even then, it’s pretty played out. BORING. jo koy > anjelah johnson by far. i want to see charlie murphy in january.
ahhhh, so many things to be excited about! the holidays, reuniting with friends, spending quality time with everyone, and 2009! i can’t wait to start the new year. it’s going to be so much better than 2008, i know it.

another good weekend in austin. highlights included:
1. HIN. my first car show ever. possibly my last. i must admit..i whined about it a bit pre-show but it got better. i’m not really into cars but it was actually pretty interesting seeing the plethora of modified cars…mixed with a bunch of ghetto people and a strange…yet familiar stench of swisher sweet cigars (or perhaps something else). the best part was NOT lil keke and lloyd…nor the half naked car models BUT the car dyno! that was really fun to me…i dig it. i have a greater appreciation for bmw’s (which by the way thomas has one of the best looking ones in his car KrEw in my opinion) annnndddd i can make a mean car noise. just ask me, i’ll do it.
2. eastside cafe! my goodness…words cannot describe the glorious ways in which eastside has found its way into my heart. thomas introduced me and it has become one of my FAVORITE places to go to…and i vow to pay a vist everytime i go to austin, or at least try to. it was a house that became a restaurant (hardly any renovations to detract it away from looking like a genuine house, not a restaurant)..and they have this cute garden, garden shop (lots of knickknacks ), and they grow their own vegetables!!! lots of cats surrounding the premises haha. thomas and i were seated in what i assume was a sitting room? we had the smoked salmon ravioli and crabmeat-stuffed shrimp. sides were corn stuffing and butternut sqaush with a sesame sauce (and it was served in halves!!). and the salad…*drool* had this raspberry dressing that was to die for!! we didn’t take any pictures…noooooooooo

3. cafe magnolia. another restaurant introduced to me by thomas. this quaint little place that apparently specializes in breakfast foods. we had this marvelous queso. best i’ve had. and some turkey cristo sandwich..which was only okay. i appreciated the setting. if i lived near there i’d probably come there with a book in hand for breakfast.
4. taco deli. !!!!!. so good!!! we had the cowboy, happy, ahi tuna, and snapper tacos. you get your choice of either corn, flour, or wheat tortillas…and theyve got this wasabi sauce thats really good!!
5. pterry’s. awesome burgers! i attempted to order onion rings with my combo, which wasn’t on the menu…i could have sworn i heard brad say onion rings..but he actually said grilled onions. i lose. the seating area was outdoors surrounded by bushes with flowers in bloom. flowers in bloom = bees. trash = bees. i’m allergic to bees!! and i’ve been lucky enough to not have gotten stung by one (knock on wood)…for some reason, the bees were just lurking around us..following us from table to table and giving us a hard time. they didn’t seem to bother anyone else. i hate bees! and wasps!
i realize that this entire post was about food and without pictures!! but man…austin is great. i want to try and move there upon graduation. boyfriend did a great job showing me around on friday and educating me on cars and such. the weather was great except that it got a bit chilly at night. otherwise, yay!
