on the 12th (3am) i experienced the worst stomach cramps ever, so much so that i couldn’t sleep for the rest of the evening or for the rest of the next day. i’ve had food poisoning before but this one was by far… much worse. not only were the cramps unbearable, i had to vomit and use the bathroom every half hour. i tried to hydrate myself and balance out my electrolytes but i just kept throwing it up. dehydration, extreme pain, and then breathing so fast that you lose too much CO2 (which causes muscle spasms/curling of the hands and feet) = ER.

i think the best part of my night was getting that injection of morphine but it took 3 bags of NaCl saline, valium, morphine, 2 doses of zofran, and some other medication that was given in my butt to relieve me of this hell. oh, and a CT scan to add (which i tried so hard to dissuade the doc from doing). i’m kind of scared as to what the total cost is but at least i’m better. they tried to transfer me to the hospital (i was at the methodist emergency care center) for another several days on suspicion that i may have crohn’s or some other type of inflammatory bowel disorder but FUCK THAT. what’s adding an ambulance ride, some more medications, more tests, procedures, and hospital stay to my check. momma didn’t raise no fool. if things don’t resolve and of course, if i continue to vomit then i will gratefully admit myself to the hospital. at least i’m better now. haha.

btw, i’d stray away from the goi du du kho bo at don’s cafe if i were you.

undercutting some portfolio work to blog. let’s see…aside from a few setbacks, 2009 wasn’t that bad. in fact, there were many new experiences that i never dreamed i would be able to do until my career took off. however, i do get a little sad now and then about losing touch with a lot of friends. it’s partially my fault for not taking the initiative to maintain contact but school, work, and lack of funds make for a sad homebody. i do get to see a few people every now and then but it’s not very often. i guess it’s because every time someone wants to hang out, they just want to drink and i’m pretty much over alcohol, unless i’m on vacation. school has just drained the life out of me and all i ever want to do is be boring and sleep. and my plans for this year is to definitely save money because financial crisis is never fun.

the start of 2010 was amazing! i got to spend it in seattle with my best friend. lei took me snowboarding for the first time and i FINALLY got to see what real snow looks like. and i must say, snow is so very beautiful. it has a way of calming you to the point that you find yourself tuning everyone and everything out and the cold isn’t so bad if you’re probably dressed haha.

there’s a pretty humorous video of me falling while snowboarding but i think i’ll spare myself the embarrassment. seattle was just full of wonderful things. there was so much to look at and so much to do. i absolutely love places that have a lot of culture and history. houston is so mundane, although i am spoiled by large parking spaces and bigger living spaces. i do plan to relocate within the next few years, so that’s something to look forward to.

here’s to 2010!

how is it supposed to hit 30 degrees tonight and go back to 70 degrees on monday?

how does one prepare for such weather changes!

drinking my 10th dream machine of the month, while procrastinating to finish this last chapter, and reading more shel silverstein works

Listen to the mustn’ts, child.

Listen to the don’ts.

Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts.

Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me…

Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.

i’ll always remember the plethora of children’s books that kept me company during my lonely years in elementary school (i didn’t have any friends :-( ). one of my absolute favorites was shel silverstein.

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

upon reading it…after however many years that have passed, it continues to remind me just how great of an author he is

i’m so happy!

1. i haven’t been updating

2. because i’m drenched in stress

3. which causes me to sleep every chance i get

4. which makes me absolutely boring

5. waking up at 4am blows

6. even though i am tired/stressed/overworked beyond belief

7. i LOVE what i’m doing (on most days)

8. fatigue is setting in now…

9. so, i must discontinue blogging…in a list format

10. i love my boyfriend!

And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain
Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it’s a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder

this is going to be semi-brief because i have an endless amount of reading to do but man, i haven’t updated in awhile.  i feel like there’s so much to blog about but i simply do not have enough time. here’s a quick overview of some key events towards the end of winter break. first thing’s first…

NEW YORK

it was an AMAZING experience. although i didn’t get to see inches of snow as i had hoped for…

- lodged at the W in time square and had my first celebrity sighting (ludacris).

- experienced the oh-so-wonderful 16 degree weather with ridonkulous wind chill.

- rode the dirty subway. it was fun!

- utilized public bathrooms that were constructed for people who don’t mind being confined to filthy, small spaces. not so fun!

- shopped around the soho district. kidrobot!

- ate lots of splendid food. joe’s shanghai soup dumplings, various asian restaurants, europa, chicken & rice stand (which btw is disgusting if you’re sober but REALLLLLLLLY good if you’re completely blitzed)

- quality time with my man, carol, randy, and NYSaxy@gmail.com

- missed the flight back home, crossed our fingers for available seating, and managed to have a fever at the airport. wut! wut!

the trip was marvelous. there was so much to look at. the environment was totally new to me (as well as the people) andddddd needless to say, i was freaking excited the entire time. i can’t wait to go back and actually do some touristy activities. this trip was exactly what i needed. thanks honey! best boyfriend in the entire world!!!! foseriously.
